Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Missouri Chapter
Organization mission: Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
What has your organization done that you’re most proud of? Greater Missouri Chapter was the proud recipient of the National Crystal award. The award honors our excellence in all areas of our mission statement, from care and support, increasing awareness and funding in research to end Alzheimer’s disease. We are humbled by our opportunities to help families at their most vulnerable time of need.
What are some ways that individuals can get involved? The enormity of our mission requires the support of thousands of volunteers throughout the state of Missouri. Individuals can join the fight as volunteers for events or on a more regular basis in our offices or raising awareness in the community where they live, work or play. Others choose to join teams of advocacy volunteers who meet with elected officials at regular intervals to inform and encourage votes on bills that support caregivers and those living with memory loss. Everyone is invited to learn more about the thousands of research projects funded by the Alzheimer’s Association and find out how they might participate now or in the future.
What is your volunteer application process (info and link)? We love to hear from individuals who want to do more! You don’t have to know what you would like to do before you make a call to Pam Gordon, our Volunteer Director (573-443-8665) or email her at PGordon@alz.org. She will learn about your interests and skills and talk through opportunities to make a difference. You can review a list of opportunities HERE.
