Member Profile: Keith Duncan

Title: I’m a Marketing Consultant; I develop marketing strategies for businesses based on their goals, challenges, and opportunities, while utilizing the many digital and broadcast resources offered through our company.

Workplace/Employer: I’m proud to work for Sinclair Broadcast Group, locally 13KRCG/CBS.

Hometown: I’m from small town USA—Paris, MO.

First job: In high school, my grandpa referred me to the City of Paris’s Cemetery Department where I worked as a Groundskeeper for 3 summers.

How long have you been in Columbia:  Since August 2010 when I started at Mizzou.

College/degree(s):  Bachelor of Educational Studies; minors in both Business and English from the University of Missouri.

Why did you decide to go into this field: I wanted to take the skills I developed as an educator and apply them to a business atmosphere.

3 words people use to describe you: Charismatic. Witty. Capable.

Awards/Recognitions: Mizzou’s Multicultural Certificate representing a familiarity and deep respect for diversity, and the Dean’s List.

Things that occupy your free time: The bulk of my free time is spent hanging out with my family. I have three brothers and two cousins who live in Columbia that I’m very close with. I also have a niece, Lundyn, and a brand-new nephew, Gatlin! I also enjoy catching up with my close friends, playing guitar and working on watches.

Significant Other/children/furry children: I’m as single as they come.

Fun facts (hobbies, talents, etc.): When I was 13 I wrote a song with my older brother, Brandon, that eventually made it on iTunes. Our band, PND (Prefer not to Disclose (yes, that was actually our band name)), won our first Battle of the Bands and had the opportunity to open for Uncle Kracker. I can tie a double knot in a cherry stem. I also have an affinity with horology (the study of clocks and watches); I can do more than change your watch battery and set the clocks for daylight savings time.

Currently watching: Just finished The Office, for the first time! Yes, I know I’m late to the party.

Currently listening to (or favorite song): Oh, this is so tough. I lost several family members this past year and this song always reminds me to make time for the people you love— “Almost Home” by Craig Morgan.

Place you want to visit: I’ve always wanted to visit Australia.

Favorite part about Women’s Network: Apart from how welcoming everyone has been so far, I really enjoy the tone of ambition within the room. It’s a privilege to be a part of such a productive initiative and I’m thankful for the people I’ve already began to meet.

Goal or goals for 2018:  Continue to connect with people in the Columbia community, learn, travel, and acquire a new skill (taking suggestions).
