Dear Network Members-
Time has passed so swiftly and this incredible journey of being your Women’s Network Chair is coming to an end. The experience has been more amazing then I could have ever imagined. Opening doors, nurturing new friendships, changing my mindset and growing in leadership. If it hadn’t been for the inspiration of admiral Women in the Network I would have never taken the first step.
Mine is a journey of watching silently from the sidelines with the aspiration of one day leading like the fabulous Women that were in front of me. It wasn’t until I began moving towards my goal I found out my lack of confidence in myself was the door between the life I was living and life I desired to have. As I broke through the self-made obstacle I was delighted at the number of people there to lift me up and reassure my direction.
The past twelve months has been a time of transformation as I also moved from employee to business owner. Leading up to both of this year’s opportunities I spent much time reflecting on myself and what was the right choice in my future. However, my largest leadership lesson this year has been the simple fact that it’s not about me, every day I’m reminded it is about clients, employees, and community, lifting others up and standing beside them in their decisions as they grow in leadership.
I’ve said it before and I will again, that Women’s Network exists because of the intelligent, creative volunteers who step up and get things done so that as an organization together we stand out in the business community and because of you, our wonderful members who show up event after event to live our mission. That’s really the simplicity of successful leadership, to surround oneself with the best people, ignite their confidence and step back and watch great things happen.
As for myself, you have motivated me daily through your passion, knowledge, ability and grace and I cannot wait to see where we go from here. So, as you look back on this Women’s Network year, were you inspired? Maybe from one of our presenters, possibly a mentor, someone on our leadership team, another member or even in the growth you have accomplished in yourself this year as a leader. If your answer is yes I would love to hear your story, and if your answer is no then I absolutely want to hear what’s holding you back?
One of my favorite heroine’s, Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face, to do the thing you think you cannot do.” If I can open the door so can you, it is where our opportunity awaits. So, whether you are part of the Network by choice or an employer’s urging spend time learning, build strong connections and cultivate the leader within you. Your time is an expiring commodity, so whatever you do in your life do it with purpose and make it count.
Thank you for your friendship and encouragement. I will always be grateful for this experience!
All My Best,
