DEBIN BENISH STARTED Delta Systems Group at a time when women were not encouraged to venture out on their own, not to mention in a technology field. During her 18 years in business, Debin was actively involved in the Chamber and Women’s Network. The Chamber honored Debin and Delta Systems Group as the 1992 Small Business of the Year and again in 2005 as a Small Business of the Year Finalist.
In honor of Debin’s memory, Women’s Network and Delta Systems Group have selected Michele Spry as the 7th annual Debin Benish Outstanding Businesswoman award recipient. Michele has proven her leadership abilities time and time again. She has developed her leadership skills through her community involvement and experience owning and operating Midway Electric, Inc., an electrical contracting company.
Midway Electric, Inc. was named Small Business of the Year in 2009 and in that same year, Midway Electric, Inc. was named a Blue Ribbon Small Business award recipient by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Michele is actively involved in the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and its Small Business Committee, Women’s Network and its Changing the Odds Committee, and will serve as the Ambassadors chair this fiscal year. She gives back to her community by volunteering her time and talents at Midway Elementary school, the Central Missouri Humane Society, Boys and Girls Club, and Missouri DECA competitive events.
Michele mentors her colleague’s, elementary students and teachers, and especially the women participating in Changing the Odds events – all with a positive attitude. She sets high expectations for herself, her work and her company.
